Purpose
The purpose of the Courier and Postal Center Technician I is to help ensure the timely and accurate completion of all Courier and Postal Center duties. This includes processing, sorting and delivery of USPS and interoffice mail and address corrections.
Duties
Must meet deadlines as they pertain to branch courier mail, USPS mailing and address corrections.
Responsible for processing, sorting and delivery of USPS and interoffice mail, operation of mail processing equipment and address corrections.
Must be able to work independently and as member of a team.
Responsible for learning all aspects of the Courier and Postal Center operations.
Responsible for all interoffice courier runs including USPS PO Box collection.
Learn to operate all mail processing equipment.
Responsible for updating member addresses as indicated by the various SECU and USPS generated reports.
Assist branches and departments with address changes and research.
Report equipment and machine problems when necessary.
May be required to deliver mailings to the US Post Office using SECU provided transportation.
Must be able to make adjustments in the schedule, as needed and to complete the required workload.
Perform other duties assigned.
Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent experience.
Some SECU Experience Preferred.
Be professional and have good communication skills.
Must have the ability to work well with others.
Demonstrate a focus to detail.
Must be dependable and possess good organizational skills.
Must be willing to learn about postage machines, address changes, all departmental processes, and any associated software.
Must work well under pressure and be able to meet daily deadlines.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.
Must be willing to work extended hours to complete daily processing, when necessary.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
Must be cordial in all interactions with co-workers.
Reliable attendance is required.
A valid NC Driver's License is required.
Must be honest, hardworking and dependable and possess a positive attitude.
Job Environment
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone.
Physical Demands
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires a substantial amount of standing and moving.
Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information and to operate required machines.
Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
Must have sufficient vision to read data off a PC screen (i.e. reports, first class mail zip codes, etc.).
Must be able to work in close quarters.
