Key Responsibilities
- Assists leadership with hires, reviews, schedules, training, coaching, and monitoring the work of the collections staff. Conducts leadership activities to include training, performance updates, and performance reviews.
- Monitors delinquency (including negative balances), audits delinquent accounts, handles all members who have been accelerated to management. Reviews all documentation, correspondence, and calls to members. Ensures quality control of department.
- Supervises staff regarding bankruptcy, repossession, fraud, CPI garnishments, and legal to ensure credit union is following all guidelines, due diligence, and regulations.
- Analyzes all recommended legal action, attorney assignments, and costs. Participates in court proceedings, actively works with investigators, and files legal actions when necessary.
- Monitors and balances all Collection Department GL's.
- Identifies and communicates to management trends of loan underwriting contributing to delinquent and charge off accounts.
- Assists management with reports and updates on daily delinquency.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
- Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
- Other Skills: 1. Minimum three years of increasing responsible job experience in the collection field. Thorough knowledge of collection procedures, techniques and court proceedings. Excellent written and interpersonal skills to supervise employees and communicate effectively with members. Excellent analytical ability to make decisions and resolve problems. Ability to operate a PC and Microsoft Suite (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Word).
- Physical Requirements: Physical qualifications include sitting at a computer for extended periods of time, being able to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
