Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy Execution
Applies knowledge of cost-saving strategies and negotiation techniques to meet targets.
Supplier Relationship Management
Maintains and develops strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent performance.
Decision Making
Makes purchasing decisions independently, based on data and business needs.
Mentorship and Training
Supports the onboarding and training of buyers as needed.
Initiative and Ownership
Proactively manages issues, identifies risks, and supports new supplier sourcing and projects.
ADA Requirements:
Annual Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

The Buyer II is expected to perform other duties in conjunction with other employees and departments contributing to the overall team effort, efficient process and safe working environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the ERP system regularly to analyze key reports and determine purchase needs based on demand, inventory, and lead times.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, confirm delivery schedules, and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Ensure all materials are received within the required timeframe to keep production lines running without interruptions.
- Negotiate the best price, lead times, and terms with key suppliers to support cost savings and operational goals.
- Coordinate logistics and shipping schedules to ensure on-time delivery to SMC, including document review and compliance for international shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of pricing, lead times, and supplier data in the ERP (IQMS) system.
- Work directly with suppliers to address and resolve supply issues and potential risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Quality, Engineering, and Sourcing to support procurement activities and solve any supply or production challenges.
- Review, update, and create work instructions and procurement-related procedures as needed.
- Serve as the purchasing contact for selected customers, respond to inquiries, and provide materials analysis or updates as needed.
- Participate in customer meetings to review procurement status.
- Manage procurement activities related to new transfer programs and support the quoting process with the Sourcing team.
- Obtain and verify material certifications and documentation required by customers or internal quality systems.
- Control delivery schedules and support consolidation efforts to manage transportation costs.
- Participate in monthly inventory reporting and shortage analysis.
- Participate in the training of new buyers and provide support to other buyers as needed.
- Support Purchasing team activities and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
- Make purchasing decisions following company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement (raw material), sourcing, or a related supply chain function.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers and suppliers.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of purchase order management, supplier performance, and cost control.
- Experience with ERP systems is highly preferred.
- Ability to analyze data, and prepare analysis for customers.

- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
- Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
- Travel by air or car occasionally
