Primary Purpose

  • To positively impact student achievement by providing supplemental interventions for identified at risk students and professional development and coaching for teachers of students experiencing difficulties mastering content and performance standards and at risk of dropping out of school.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Masters' degree in education (preferred)
  • Texas ESL Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution (required)

Experience Required

  • Five or more years successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of best practices and high yield strategies for at risk students.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Thorough knowledge and skills of Response to Intervention requirements
  • Thorough knowledge and skills of effective instructional intervention strategies, such as;
    • Read 180/System 44
    • Kagan Structures and Strategies
    • Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design
    • iStation
    • Leveled Literacy Intervention
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
Major Responsibilities And Duties

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Student support (in collaboration with classroom teacher):
    • Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources, which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and special needs
    • Ensure proper interventions are put in place for struggling students
    • Provide intervention support with effective implementation
    • Monitor progress of at risk students
    • Review and analyze documented student data for needed modification
  • Teacher support/coaching:
    • Co-planning and co-teaching
    • Demonstration lessons that focus on processes and procedures that ensure effective learning for varied individuals
    • Targeted classroom support to improve student success
    • Assisting in the analysis of data to determine instructional needs
    • PLCs based on student needs and instructional intervention strategies
  • Campus support:
    • Assisting in the analysis of data to determine student/campus needs
    • Identification of campus-wide instructional intervention needs
    • Collaboration and communication of professional learning opportunities

  • Participation in the following to strengthen and grow one's own professional knowledge:
    • Keep abreast of current research and practice
Other Responsibilities

  • Other duties as requested campus principal as pertaining to at risk students.
