Description
Pathway Family Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced psychiatrist to serve as the Medical Director for our PRTF programs. This contracted role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality psychiatric and medical care for youth in our facilities, while supporting clinical and program staff in delivering efficient and effective treatment. The ideal candidate will align with our trauma-informed philosophy and commitment to eliminating restraints and seclusions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regular contact with residents, especially those on medication.
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and monitor individualized care plans.
- Maintain communication with residents’ families as needed.
- Conduct and document psychiatric evaluations.
- Advise staff on medical matters, including psychotropic medication management.
- Authorize seclusion or restraint per CMS regulations.
- Review medical records for necessity, timeliness, and treatment progression.
- Evaluate quality and utilization data and recommend actions.
- Ensure agency medical policies comply with federal and state regulations.
- Serve as a consultant and resource across departments.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in medical services.
- Represent the agency in internal and external committees.
- Travel as required for meetings and training (valid driver’s license required).
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school.
- Completion of an approved hospital internship.
- Minimum of 5 years practicing medicine, including psychiatric care.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Kansas.
- Trained in emergency safety interventions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical and scientific information.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in computer-based data analysis and documentation.
- Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to both indoor and occasional outdoor conditions.
- Potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, and safe vehicle operation.
