Position Overview
The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for proactively requesting and obtaining prescriptions and authorizations from medical offices and insurance providers for a set portfolio of patients. The Supervisor is expected to respond professionally and knowledgeably in accordance with company standards, and other verbal and written training policies to patient inquiries with information regarding benefit plans (co-payments, deductibles, quantity and day supply limitations, etc.) and to other calls from clinics, insurance companies, pharmacies and physicians.
The starting pay for our Patient Access Supervisor is $55,000 per year. Essential Job Functions
- Manage the patient insurance authorization and medical documentation process required for services that are being requested by the physician responsible for the patient’s care
- Resolve patient, medical office and insurance company questions and concerns regarding Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) and/or Participating Provider (PAR)
- Verify monthly patient eligibility for continued services
- Lead the Patient Access team to meet daily, monthly and quarterly metrics and goals set by management
- Complete special projects as assigned by the manager.
- Support, Train and Mentor Patient Access Specialists
- Create training material if needed
- Monthly one on one meetings with all members of the team
- Meet with the team weekly to discuss updates, progress and initiate team building
- Manage and approve timecards for employees weekly
- Ensure work being performed meets internal and external compliance requirements
- Support the Aveanna mission and culture by demonstrating our core values; compassion, team integrity, accountability, trust, innovation compliance and fun.
- Adhere to the Aveanna Compliance Program, including following all regulatory, Aveanna and accrediting agency policy requirements.
- Maintain the skills and qualifications necessary to provide or support quality care, including attendance at company-wide educational programs.
- Responsible for harmonious interactions with coworkers and customers, including patients, medical office staff, vendors and the general public.
- Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Company’s policies and procedures.
- Associates Degree in Healthcare, Medical Office, Management or related field; Bachelors in Healthcare Administration or related field highly preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in related field; healthcare, medical office, customer service
- 1-2 years’ experience leading a team preferred
- Knowledge of insurance treatment authorization and/or precertification preferred
- Knowledge of home health, DME, or Enteral nutrition products preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage in a high call volume environment with accuracy and efficiency
- Must be able to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times
