General Responsibilities Of The Position
The Food Service Director oversees the smooth operation of dining services. Must have knowledge of large quantity meal preparation, have purchasing, strong human relations, communication and business management skills of preparing palatable menus, creating staff schedules, and general food handling, storage, and meal delivery.
The Food Service Director must ensure that food is presentable and meets the nutritional needs, preferences and requests of the general resident population.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Food Service Director shall be responsible for food service-related business and personnel management. He/she shall be responsible for supervising, coordinating and directing the work duties of all food service personnel, including providing evaluative input to the Administrator, and the preparation and distribution of meals to the residents. He/she shall make sure the facility complies with local, state and federal agency requirements.

- Ensures that dining services proceed smoothly.
- Responsible for handling and preparing food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen
- Set up meals and meet meal schedules.
- Estimate food requirements and apportion servings.
- Avoid food waste and observe resident plate waste.
- Responsible for care of kitchen equipment.
- Follows standard recipes and menus, making frequent independent decisions relative to type of meal to be served and method of preparation.
- Responsible of food orders
- Responsible for evaluation of food service personnel
- Manage the food service department in an efficient manner while following the facility's budgetary guidelines.
