- Utilize advanced software tools like AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to create detailed electrical schematics and control diagrams for switchgear systems.
- Develop comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control diagrams to support production and streamline the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure that designs meet specifications and are optimized for manufacturability and reliability.
- Participate in the selection and specification of switchgear components, including circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, and other electrical components, to ensure optimal performance and compliance with relevant standards.
- Prepare detailed bills of materials (BOM) and wiring diagrams, ensuring accuracy and completeness to facilitate the manufacturing process.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, and other team members to integrate electrical systems with mechanical components for cohesive functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in switchgear design and manufacturing, ensuring designs comply with ANSI, UL, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design processes, updates, and revisions. Conduct thorough reviews and quality checks on designs to ensure precision and adherence to standards.
Skills, Requirements, and Specifications
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the electrical distribution industry, including electrical switchgear experience.
- Familiarity with major brands in the industry (Schneider, ABB, Eaton)
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor for electrical schematics and design.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in design work.
- Solid understanding of ANSI and UL standards relevant to switchgear.
