ACTIA Corporation has been manufacturing quality vehicle electronics and diagnostic equipment for growing markets such as Off-Highway, Bus & Coach, Truck & Fleet, Marine and Specialty Vehicles for over 30 years. ACTIA Group is an international group based in Toulouse, France.
We are currently looking for a Hardware Engineer to join our team in Elkhart, IN. The Hardware Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic hardware systems for a wide range of products, including embedded systems, consumer electronics, and industrial devices. Your expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware debugging will be instrumental in bringing innovative products from concept to production.

We are currently looking for a Hardware Engineer to join our team in Elkhart, IN. The Hardware Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic hardware systems for a wide range of products, including embedded systems, consumer electronics, and industrial devices. Your expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware debugging will be instrumental in bringing innovative products from concept to production.
Job Specific Competencies
Hardware
- Design and develop electronic circuits and systems, including analog, digital, and mixed signal components.
- Create and maintain detailed schematics and PCB layouts using tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, QA) to ensure seamless integrations of hardware into final products.
- Perform simulations, circuit analysis, and component selection to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
- Conduct hands-on prototyping, testing, and debugging of circuit boards and electronic assemblies.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate hardware functionality and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (EMC/EMI, environmental, ISO, SAE, safety, etc.)
- Support manufacturing teams with test procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends, components, and technologies to inform design improvements and innovations.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, power electronics, and communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, etc.).
- Proficient in EDA tools for schematics capture and PCB layout.
- Familiar with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance and design-for-manufacturability (DEM) principles.
- Ensure legal compliance with ITAR, state, federal and OSHA requirements.
- Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Movement - This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and on the production floor. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Operate/Use - Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. copier, printer, calculator)
- Ascend/Descend - Rarely ascends/descends stairs to reach archived files
- Communicate - This position frequently communicates with co-workers, managers and supervisors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Transport - This position frequently lifts or moves 25 pounds, occasionally moves up to 50 pounds for various needs.
- Work Environment - Relatively quiet but fast paced.
- Travel - Occasional may need to travel to customers and vendors, with very minimal overnight stays, may be required.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred three plus years of experience in electronic hardware design.
- Requires experience in automative and electrical.
- Dynamic, self-starter with the ability to excite and instill confidence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, ethical, honest, and trustworthy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to details and deadlines.
- Preferred experience with high-speed PCB design and signal integrity analysis.
- Knowledge of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, etc.)
- Familiarity with embedded system development and hardware-software integration.
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools and techniques.
