Purpose And Scope

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Delivers at a high level of competency to maintain standards of excellence in the assigned curricular areas, so that students may derive the greatest academic and personal benefit for the learning experience. This involves working on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvement.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides leadership in developing, planning, monitoring and implementing appropriate curriculum to meet the identified needs of the system. This requires a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in maintaining standards of excellence in curriculum & instruction; is viewed as expert within the field. Serves as an instructional teacher leader in the assigned curricular area, developing and implementing appropriate curriculum and meeting identified needs to address the rigor or the Common Core State Standards. Designs and disseminates instructional strategies that enhance instruction in the assigned curricular area.
  • Conducts multiple evaluations and classroom monitoring for the Federal Head Start Grant, as well as, Health and Safety monitoring for Head Start Grant;

Conducts ELLCO/ECERS evaluations; Conducts TEM evaluations for Community Partner classrooms; Conducts TEM evaluations Pre K - 3rd for schools as needed; Conducts CLASS evaluations for all Pre K classes; Conducts Head Start Compliance Monitoring.

  • Provides assistance to all professional school-based personal and/or community representatives regarding the assigned curricular area and works collaboratively with other professionals, and management in the development of effective instructional and assessment technique which are research based and achieve a system-wide result. May lead a team in the effort.
  • Serves as liaison between the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, teachers and principals on K-12 curriculum and instructional matters and makes recommendations pertaining thereto.
  • Assists the Department of Professional Development and Regional Academic Office by planning and conducting content specific professional growth activities as well as providing coaching to all Pre K classes and additional support to teachers on Plans of Assistance.
  • Assists with on-going orientation of new teachers in the areas of English Language Arts curriculum and instruction.
  • Assists teachers as needed or requested in the development of effective content specific curriculum implementation and instructional and assessment techniques.
  • Assists teachers and administrators as needed or requested to identify academic or behavioral concerns and solutions.
  • Researches, provides assistance to teachers as needed or requested in the development of effective instructional and assessment techniques which are research based in order to increase student mastery of state standards; advances teachers' knowledge of state and district content standards and understanding including teaching strategies, assessments, District and school data driven instruction, lesson demonstrations and pre and post analysis.
  • Deals with unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvements. Ensures that the work groups goals and activities are in sync with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization; and that the execution of responsibilities is in accordance to lawful and ethical standards.
  • Assists the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in disaggregating student data, identifying student needs, selecting textbooks and materials, and establishing program goals. Also, assist Humanities Manager by planning and conducting programs, workshops and other in-service activities.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provides for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related area plus an additional 5 years related experience, or equivalent for a total education/experience of 9 years. Tennessee teaching license with Administrative Certification required. A minimum of four years of successful experience as a classroom teacher is required. Experience in a school leadership position is strongly preferred. Proficient in the use of technology to include video presentation, word processing, database and spreadsheet applications is also required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula

Bachelor's Degree

= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master's Degree

= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
