Summary

The Head of Traffic will oversee all aspects of traffic and logistics for the Gerald Group in North America ensuring efficient and timely delivery in accordance with contractual terms while optimizing costs and resources.The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in physical commodities in traffic management and logistics with strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with traffic team leaders worldwide responsible for the day-to-day administration of physical contracts in accordance with contractual terms.Covering Copper, Aluminum, Precious Metals, Tin and Cobalt, Tin and Copper Concentrates and any other commodity activities for Gerald Metals.
  • Liaise with front, middle, and back offices of Traffic and Distribution functions worldwide to achieve cost savings in logistics, port and warehouse operations, insurance considerations for all commodities.
  • Coordinate with Group departments to ensure compliance with Gerald’s end of period reporting requirements and year-end reviews and audits of traffic and distribution execution of physical contracts according to contractual terms.
  • Establish processes and procedures for prompt validation, booking and payment of secondary costs.Ensure prompt response to vendor inquiries and resolution of disputed items.
  • Establish processes and procedures for the review and reconciliation of key accounts ensure operations provide timely instructions of cash applications and follow up for late payments.
  • Oversight of the cargo marine insurance policy of the Gerald Group.Prompt reporting of sales turnover and inventory levels for premium reconciliation. Annual negotiation of policy renewal.
  • Coordinate timely inspections of warehouses and review inspection reports to ensure adherence to the Group’s risk policies and fraud prevention procedures.Review of warehouse and freight vendor KYC filings, agreements, and terms & conditions.
  • Understanding Group contract administration and risk systems Brady Trinity and Aquarius.Work with the departments to optimize the use of the systems and identify manual and intense paper processes that can be automated or transitioned to a paperless environment and electronic storage of data.
  • Oversee and train personnel responsible for US Customs Compliance.Provide in-house resources and liaise with outside experts for Customs Compliance questions from Desks regarding new business opportunities.Ensure compliance with new regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 10 + years of experience in traffic management, logistics, or supply chain in the commodities sector
  • Leadership experience and a track record of managing and developing high-performance teams
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency for decision-making and performance optimization
  • Knowledge of global logistics operations, physical commodity markets, and global organization
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and logistics management software and tools is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software applications, with advanced Excel and Word capabilities.
  • Good organizational, planning, and follow up skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a team to meet strict deadlines in a high paced environment.
  • Courteous and flexible customer service attitude.
  • Well spoken, assertive team player capable of effectively communicating in a dynamic global environment.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and willingness to work non-traditional business hours as required.
  • Ability to work in office 5 days a week
