BASIC RESPONSIBILITY:
The Direct Service Provider in culinary arts will provide training, supervision and instructions to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a commercial kitchen setting. The DSP in culinary arts will report to the Program Innovation Leader (PIL) and Director of Programs/Executive Chef.

General
BASIC RESPONSIBILITY:
The Direct Service Provider in culinary arts will provide training, supervision and instructions to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a commercial kitchen setting. The DSP in culinary arts will report to the Program Innovation Leader (PIL) and Director of Programs/Executive Chef.
Specific Duties
- Supervise and train participants in skills related to foodservice that support the individuals needs and program goals.
- Actively engage with participants in daily activities that support a person-centered approach and supports the participant’s individual program goals.
- Assist the Executive Chef, PIL and participants with fulfilling daily and/or weekly menus.
- Ensure environments meet health and safety requirements by maintaining clean and orderly environment at all times. Report any health and safety concerns to supervisors.
- Complete documentation including but not limited to: daily logs, incident reports, and attendance logs, outing forms and transportation logs.
- Promote community integration by ensuring participants have full access to the community through outings, field trips, and attending special events.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all program participants at all times by following organizational policies, procedures, actively monitoring environments, having consistent headcounts and responding promptly to any concerns or incidents.
- Follow all program and organizational duties and procedures in an ethical and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with all Licensing, CARF, Regional Center and The Arc policies and procedures.
- Support the emotional, physical and personal well-being of all individuals served.
QUALIFICATIONS:
General
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check.
- Hold a current California driver’s license, able to drive a passenger van and have a clean driving record.
- Can lift a minimum of 45lbs.
- Strong communication and teambuilding skills.
- Willingness to learn and be flexible to changing State and program requirements.
- Able to be patient and work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a respectful and professional manner.
- Strong computer skills and able to navigate programs for data entry and recording.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

- Must have a high school diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Able to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English. Bilingual preferred.
- Able to successfully complete organizational provided Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training.
- Experience with providing group supervision of a minimum of 4 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate within 3 months
- Minimum of 1 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen or food industry
