As a Director of Education RN you are at the heart of the Clinical Department. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at Harmony West Des Moines by assisting the Director of Nursing with planning, development, overall training of nursing staff, assisting with instilling a positive and inclusive facility culture and operation of the Nursing Department. Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they receive an unparalleled standard of care.

• Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, directing, and supervising the training and activities of the nursing staff.
• Assists the DON formulate the goals and objectives of the in-service and educational programs of the facility.
• Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, update, and coordinate educational and on the job training programs.
• Develop and participate in planning orientation programs for newly hired nursing staff.
• Conduct special in-services for the nursing staff to ensure they remain current on new federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Ensures the Nursing Department is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Performs audits of employee records and ensures all nursing department staff are up to date on all necessary education and competencies.
• Participates in Federal, State and Local agency annual surveys.
• Reviews any deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections and assists with the implementation of changes needed to correct any deficiencies found.
• Assure that established infection control and prevention practices and standard precautions are maintained at all times.
• Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan.
  
  
  

To be eligible for consideration applicants should have:

As a minimum, an unencumbered State of Iowa Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, C.P.R. Certification and two (2) years of R.N. experience. Prior experience managing a nursing department and five (5) years of R.N. experience is preferable but we are willing to invest in the right candidate!
