Essential Functions:
- Manage concurrent authorization requests and track their status.
- Input patient data into the electronic medical record system for billing.
- Collaborate with Admissions staff for insurance verification and case setup.
- Maintain ongoing communication with payor case managers, updating and documenting authorization statuses.
- Monitor reimbursement guidelines and pricing parameters to ensure compliance.
- Recognize and escalate potential problem referrals to the supervisor.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as assigned.
- Support client concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist in training new and current staff on processes and procedures.
- Monitor and manage task lists (“to-dos”) in the EMR on a daily basis.
- Assist Intake Supervisor with special projects as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare authorizations, health information, or intake services preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Able to work independently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
