The Forester position plays a key role in the success of our forestry operations, with primary responsibilities focused on timber sale acquisition, contract administration, and quality control. The role is highly field-oriented, with approximately 80% of the time spent outdoors conducting on-the-ground evaluations, inspections, and monitoring, and the remaining 20% dedicated to office-based planning, reporting, and coordination.
The Forester position is based in Chehalis, WA, with a working territory that extends across Washington and Oregon, offering a diverse and dynamic work environment. - Timber Cruising and Inventory Analysis - Conducting precise measurements and assessments of forest stands to determine volume, quality, and market value.
- Quality Control and Compliance Oversight - Ensuring operational activities meet contract specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Timber Sale Appraisal and Valuation - Preparing detailed evaluations of timber sales, including financial analysis and market assessment.
- Forest Road Design and Construction Appraisal - Assessing road construction plans and costs to support safe, efficient, and sustainable timber harvest operations.
- Contract Negotiation and Management - Leading negotiations and managing agreements with landowners, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Timber Sale Planning and Administration - Overseeing all phases of timber sales, from planning and bidding through contract execution and completion.
- Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Implementation and Compliance - Actively participating in and supporting SFI standards to promote responsible forest management and environmental stewardship.
- Excellent PC skills using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related forestry software tools
- Practice safe work habits and comply with all company work and safety standards
- Proven customer service, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Strong work ethic, maintain high personal and professional standards of focus and dedication to work

- Associate's degree in Forestry or higher
- Bachelor's degree preferred; job experience considered
- Valid Driver’s license
- Applicable work experience is preferred
