Position Overview

The Purchasing, Estimating & BOM Specialist will play a critical role in managing project costs and ensuring material availability. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), preparing detailed estimates, and handling vendor sourcing and purchasing. You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, and suppliers to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates based on BOMs, project specifications, and vendor pricing.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to align with project timelines.
  • Monitor costs, material availability, and lead times to support accurate forecasting.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to validate requirements.
  • Update estimates and BOMs when project scope or design changes occur.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Maintain vendor relationships to ensure reliability and quality of supply.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, estimating, or BOM management.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables) and ERP/CRM systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in [insert industry: manufacturing, construction, or related field].
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/specs.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, cost control, or supply chain best practices.
