Position Overview

The Finance Assistant provides support in Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Payroll/HR tasks, ensuring the church's financial operations run smoothly and with integrity. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and a heart for ministry support. Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Process donations and non-giving income daily
  • Post income to Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Manage online transactions in Pushpay & Cornerstone Central
  • Maintain giving records and donor communication
  • Assist with monthly income close and audit prep
  • Count and deposit offerings and midweek giving

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Enter and approve AP invoices and transactions
  • Manage vendor files, W-9s, and COIs
  • Process credit card transactions, check runs, and ACH files
  • Reconcile credit cards and key accounts monthly
  • File and pay sales tax; issue 1099s and submit 1096 annually
  • Support year-end and quarterly reporting

Payroll & HR Support

  • Assist with onboarding, employee file audits, and benefits administration
  • Help maintain employee data in OnePoint
  • Support payroll processing and compliance training tracking

Schedule-Based Responsibilities

  • Daily: Process transactions, manage finance inbox, support income tracking
  • Weekly: Reconcile credit card transactions, gather offerings
  • Monthly: Journal entries, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, petty cash
  • Quarterly: Tax reporting, audit support
  • Annually: 1099s, audit prep, year-end reporting

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting
  • Familiarity with GAAP and non-profit accounting
  • Proficiency in Excel, Dynamics GP, and financial reconciliation
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and discretion
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • A growing Christian with regular church participation

Work Environment

  • Hours: 30 hours/week
  • Location: On-site with occasional local travel for bank deposits
