This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco or Palo Alto offices and will require you to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Grindr (NYSE: GRND) is seeking a skilled and compassionate People Operations Manager to join our People Operations team. This role will manage a wide range of sensitive employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, performance and non-performance-related exits, policy compliance, and leave administration. You will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, ensuring fair processes, consistent application of policies, and alignment with legal requirements.

The ideal candidate thrives in navigating complex and sensitive employee situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism, while balancing business needs with risk mitigation.

What’s the job?

  • Provide guidance to leaders on handling employee concerns, conflicts, and sensitive workplace issues.
  • Lead and conduct fair, thorough, and timely workplace investigations and document findings with rigor.
  • Partner with managers and People leadership on performance management, disciplinary actions, and involuntary separations.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures, driving compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage leave of absence programs, ensuring a smooth employee experience and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Identify trends in employee relations cases and proactively recommend policy, training, or process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Legal and other People Operations partners to balance employee experience with organizational risk.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, exercising sound judgment and discretion in all situations.

What We'll Love About You

  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years focused in employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations (multi-state experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading workplace investigations and managing complex employee issues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills, with an ability to balance empathy and pragmatism.
  • Experience administering leaves of absence, accommodations, and related compliance matters.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism, resilience, and attention to detail.

We’ll Really Swoon If You Have Any Of

  • Bonus points if you’ve been a paralegal or counsel in a previous life and are excited to bring that rigor into people work.
  • Prior work in fast-paced, scaling tech or startup environments.
  • Experience supporting a distributed workforce.
  • A track record of building ER frameworks, policies, or playbooks from the ground up.
