Job Overview

Wagner Construction Inc. is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Civil Project Engineer - Utilities & Earthwork to play a key role in the successful execution of commercial and heavy civil construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments and is eager to grow within a supportive, team-based culture. You'll work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure efficient planning, scheduling, quality control, and documentation throughout each project's lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in tracking budgets, managing expenses, and adhering to schedules.
• Handle submittal approvals and manage shop drawings to ensure timely material procurement.
• Conduct pre-construction meetings and support subcontractor coordination and planning.
• Maintain updated As-Built drawings and manage project documentation.
• Serve as on-site quality manager; ensure materials meet project specs and approved submittals.
• Coordinate and communicate with architects, engineers, and owners during construction.
• Support pricing of proposal change documents and distribute to subcontractors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Oversee daily site activities and provide project support through commissioning.
• Assist in enforcing jobsite safety policies and ensure full compliance with safety standards.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Project Management, or 2-4 years of relevant field experience.
• Solid understanding of construction practices and eagerness to learn company processes.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and project documentation.
• Effective decision-making under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
• Work conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments, including various weather conditions.
• Physical tasks include lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and equipment operation.
• Frequent exposure to heavy equipment, loud environments, and rugged terrain.
