VetsEZ is seeking an experienced SQL Developer to support enterprise-scale data integration and modernization efforts within a federal healthcare program. The SQL Developer will be responsible for building and optimizing data structures, developing ETL/ELT processes, and supporting the delivery of high-quality, production-ready datasets across multiple systems. This role requires strong SQL development skills, expertise in data modeling, and the ability to collaborate with architects, data modelers, and business analysts to ensure data accuracy, scalability, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions to support data integration, transformation, and validation.
  • Develop and optimize complex queries to support analytics, reporting, and downstream system requirements.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical database objects including tables, views, indexes, and constraints.
  • Implement ETL/ELT processes to transform data from diverse source systems into harmonized formats for enterprise use.
  • Support schema design and performance tuning of relational and dimensional databases.
  • Collaborate with data modelers and architects to ensure solutions align with enterprise data standards and modeling practices.
  • Perform unit testing and peer reviews of SQL code to ensure accuracy, maintainability, and compliance with program requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including data integrity, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.
  • Provide documentation of database structures, ETL processes, and data validation rules.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, story refinement, and delivery of quality features.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience developing with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) or comparable relational databases.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT development and data transformation logic across multiple systems.
  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Experience with version control and change management in a collaborative development environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience with healthcare data systems or federal government programs.
  • Exposure to interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or CDA.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure SQL Database, Synapse, Databricks, etc.).
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, or lineage tools.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
