Job Overview

Wagner Construction Inc. is seeking a dedicated and proactive Civil Construction Field Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial and heavy civil construction projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on problem solver who thrives in fast-paced field environments and brings a foundation of engineering or construction knowledge. The Field Engineer will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to execute project plans, ensure quality, and maintain schedule and safety compliance across job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with schedule tracking, expense oversight, and cost control.
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
  • Assist in conducting pre-construction meetings and overall project planning.
  • Maintain As-Built drawings and all relevant project documentation.
  • Serve as the on-site quality control lead, ensuring materials meet approved specs.
  • Communicate and coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, and subs.
  • Attend progress meetings and help track changes, proposals, and pricing.
  • Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and owners.
  • Support field teams during construction and commissioning activities.
  • Help maintain a safe and compliant jobsite by enforcing safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field OR 2-4 years of field engineering or project coordination experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings and ability to manage documentation.
  • Comfortable with field environments and travel to different project locations.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in diverse, dynamic teams.

Schedule
