Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Center Operations, the Data Center/NOC (Network Operations and Control) Support Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of our data center and network infrastructure.
Under limited supervision, interprets and performs complex analysis of the IT performance environment. This role involves real-time monitoring, preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment to ensure optimum operation and uptime.
The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
What You'll Do
College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.

What You'll Do
- Provide comprehensive technical support services to clients. Interface with both internal and external SRP customers and for external support and escalations.
- Perform diagnostic tasks and interprets codes/logs to determine the cause of IT systems problems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues. Respond to user concerns by helping with their problems and/or procedures, answering questions and/or escalating calls and tickets to the appropriate support group.
- Support the installation of new equipment "rack and stack," cabling, and configuration.
- Assist customers by responding to smart-hands service ticket requests.
- Decommission and remove end of life IT equipment.
- Help with cage and cabinet audits and diagrams.
- Provide detailed status updates to customer tickets and sales orders.
- Maintain/record data center activities, inventory, maintenance tasks, and incidents.
- Ensure all systems of the data center environment function optimally and report issues or anomalies.
- Ship, receive, log, and distribute packages within the Data Centers.
- Schedule and oversee vendors within the Data Centers.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and data center standards, ensuring a secure and compliant environment, including NERC policies and procedures.
- Handle other duties and projects as assigned.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift in a 24/7/365 environment including weekends and holidays; must be flexible with changing shifts as needed.
- Ability to drive to multiple SRP locations within Arizona.
- Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure are crucial for addressing issues and maintaining smooth operations.
