Job Summary
The Environmental Protection (EP) Specialist supports the Market Area by administering and implementing environmental compliance programs under established procedures and supervision. Serving as the district EP contact, this role provides technical guidance to field operations personnel and management on EP topics, regulatory requirements, and sustainability initiatives. The Specialist monitors and investigates compliance status, delivers training to site and district leadership, and supports operations personnel in maintaining compliance with California environmental regulations.
This dynamic position requires strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to lead projects with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with environmental protection in California (e.g., water districts, waste management, air quality, or related regulatory environments), enjoy researching and interpreting regulations, and be skilled at translating compliance requirements into practical solutions. Success in this role involves partnering closely with district management to ensure regulatory compliance, coaching leaders and frontline staff, and driving initiatives that support company sustainability and environmental goals.
This is an in office position, candidate must be willing to commute to Simi Valley, CA each day. Candidates holding SWPPP certification and experience with WDR, CERS, CEQA, and SPCC plans encouraged to apply.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares, reviews and submits required environmental reports for internal and external audiences as required. Maintain EP data tracking system databases (Cycle, Dakota Tracer) and provides company related reporting.
- Communicates and implements the Corporate EP program policies and strategies within assigned districts. Serves as districts EP contact regarding incident notifications, environmental issues and permit applications.
- Monitors and records site operations and engineering efforts to maintain compliance. Investigates and assesses the regulatory findings and analysis and prepares related documents. Identifies local, state and federal regulatory impacts to operations.
- Plans, organizes and secures related environmental permits and other regulatory approvals. Prepares related documentation.
- Responsible for developing, coordinating and overseeing district EP testing, investigations, assessments, guidance and reporting.
- May administer customer waste and special waste disposal approvals.

A. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited)
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant experience
- 2 years of environmental protection related experience (in addition to education requirement)

The expected base pay range for this office/on-site position is $90,000 - $115,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
