Position Overview

Prime Solutions Group is seeking a Mid-Level IT Systems Engineer to join our secure IT operations team. In this role, you will support the design, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise networks, systems, and applications across both classified and unclassified environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a background in defense or government contracting, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier II/III IT support for engineering, program, and security personnel.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Windows-based infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
  • Implement and secure classified and unclassified systems in accordance with NIST RMF and DoD STIG requirements.
  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-enabled services (Microsoft 365).
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and system baselines.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, uptime, and availability across platforms.
  • Contribute to security audits, incident response, and coordination with ISSM/ISSO staff.
  • Assist with user lifecycle management, including onboarding and offboarding in secure environments.
  • Leverage scripting (e.g., PowerShell) to automate system administration tasks.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and CI Poly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s OR 3+ years with a master’s.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows 11, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in installing/configuring applications on Windows Server and Windows 11.
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity compliance.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of hardware configuration for virtual infrastructure (CPUs, GPUs, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. for hardware setup/configuration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+, CASP, or CISSP certification.
  • Experience working in secure labs or SCIF environments.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Linux administration (RHEL 8/9) experience a plus.
