Astrana Health is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Business Analyst – Clinical Performance to support medical cost containment and value-based incentive strategies across Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Commercial lines of business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on data, enjoys solving complex performance challenges, and is driven to translate insights into actionable, cross-functional initiatives.
As a critical member of the Clinical Performance team, you will support initiatives that enhance quality, optimize utilization, and improve incentive program outcomes by analyzing performance trends, identifying improvement opportunities, and helping coordinate execution with operational stakeholders.

- Analyze and monitor clinical and financial performance across lines of business, focusing on key cost and quality drivers such as inpatient utilization, ED overuse, SNF/hospice spend, and network leakage
- Convert complex data sets into clear, actionable insights and reports for operational and clinical leaders
- Support the tracking and communication of performance against clinical incentive programs (e.g., HEDIS, STAR, QIP, and custom incentive models)
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards, initiative trackers, and scenario models using Excel, PowerBI, and SQL-based data extracts
- Assist in the planning and coordination of performance improvement interventions such as:
- High-cost case management and oversight
- Network direction and referral leakage initiatives
- Status workflow optimization (e.g., observation vs. inpatient)
- Partner with stakeholders across departments including Utilization Management, Quality, Finance, and Provider Relations to align on performance goals
- Help ensure follow-through and accountability for action items and timelines related to clinical performance initiatives
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to support strategic decisions and executive reporting
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Public Health, Health Administration, Data Analytics, or related field preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience in business analysis, managed care, healthcare performance improvement, or clinical operations
- Strong understanding of value-based care, medical cost drivers, and incentive programs (e.g., HEDIS, STAR, QIP)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and comfortable with SQL queries or equivalent data tools
- Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI (preferred) or Tableau
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
- Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where the expectation is to work both in office and at home on a weekly basis.. This position will report to our Monterey Park corporate office at 1600 Corporate Center Drive.
- The target pay range for this role is: $90,000 - $105,000. This salary range represents our national target range for this role.
