Overview
Review transplant program patient records for regulatory requirements, with regular reports of findings to direct supervisor/program leadership. Co-Chair of NYMA's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Program. This role includes; tracking of quality indicators on all transplant patients, including creation and maintenance of data reports for the department (volume dashboards, process indicators, quality metrics); Determining monitoring methodology for new metrics, assessing efficacy of ongoing metrics and adherence to Transplant Policies and Protocols related to Quality and performance improvement. Responsible for program's OPTN/UNOS and SRTR data submission and data validation requirements. Also responsible for data interpretation of published transplant outcomes for use by members of the program as well as hospital leadership. Prepare all data for presentations and educational materials.
Maintain the transplant database which includes patient information, histories, surgeries, complications, rejections & long-term follow-up. Responsible for the gathering of data from various sources. Design reports to generate data to various state, local & federal agencies & research institutions. In addition to database management, this position spearheads and designs all data mapping and workflows for roll outs of all new platforms purchased by both transplant and the institution.

Responsibilities
- Review transplant program patient records for CMS/UNOS/TJC/DOH requirements. Complete tracking tools related to process. Report to program leadership with results on a monthly basis with immediate issues recognized and reported. Work with transplant staff to resolve issues found or submit appropriate documentation when missing.
- Oversee completion of OPTN/UNOS data submission. Coordinate annually the methodology for collecting data elements to meet regulatory requirements.
- Track and report Quality Indicators. Work in partnership with the Transplant clinical team to help identify and capture data elements related to clinical and administrative processes chosen as indicators for improvement.
- Build and maintain transplant databases - Ensure that the essential data is entered and monitored at the proper intervals. Maintain the collection, maintenance, and manipulation of patient data.
- Provide data to outside agencies, hospital leadership and internal departmental requests, including data mining, design and reports.
- Coordinate with hospital MIS to direct PC Hardware and software installation.
- Train End-Users - Ensure the computer users of the Dept. of Transplant Surgery are using their computers both accurately and efficiently. Super Users for all platforms. Conduct all IT teaching and training for the department.
- Build, maintain and update Transplant department Intranet site. Conduct all re-designs as needed.
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be proficient in the following programs for maintaining and reporting all data necessary for job performance: Microsoft Windows, Office Suite, OTTR, Crystal Report, EPIC, CareCast, C-EMR and MS-SQL.
- Expert knowledge of UNET Portal as well as Secure Site for the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR).
- Experience in analytical processes, statistical data and relational databases is necessary to perform thorough data verification to outside agencies.
- Must have experience communicating with customers, aptitude for updating and creating support documentation, excellent at providing positive customers service and excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot all issues that may arise with software malfunction as well as inaccurate data elements. Must be able to produce lists and reports customized on request.
