Description
As the Admissions Specialist you will coordinate all activities associated with the admission of a prospective program attendee. This function includes, but is not limited to: taking inquiry calls, providing program information, preparing initial intake paperwork, scheduling /conducting interviews with prospective patients, coordinating with other staff functions and making referrals. Perform daily, weekly and monthly record keeping in relation to census, admissions and discharges.

As the Admissions Specialist you will coordinate all activities associated with the admission of a prospective program attendee. This function includes, but is not limited to: taking inquiry calls, providing program information, preparing initial intake paperwork, scheduling /conducting interviews with prospective patients, coordinating with other staff functions and making referrals. Perform daily, weekly and monthly record keeping in relation to census, admissions and discharges.
Essential Duties Include:
- Receives and records inquiry calls in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Collects pertinent patient insurance information, forward for verification and relays insurance information back to caller in a knowledgeable way.
- Identifies those callers that meet the admission criteria for the program as well as help patients identify an appropriate level of care.
- Facilities the admission process into the program if the caller meets the admission criteria.
- Obtain necessary demographic, referral source and clinical information, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
- Provides callers that do not meet the admission criteria to find alternate treatment options based on their required level of care.
- Communicates with the patients families information about the facilities and the policies of the Company.
- Prepares daily reports.
- Ability to converse in English with others to give, take and process information; extensive use of telephone.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Communicate with other staff to relay concerns and observations involving patient safety.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required.
- Bachelors Degree preferred. College coursework or Addictions Certification desired.
- Previous experience with admissions, chemical dependency, eating disorders and / or behavioral health preferred.
