Due to a promotion, Joliet Public Library is looking for a full-time Acquisitions Associate, who is creative, dependable, detail-oriented, enjoys teamwork, flexible, focused, forward thinking, a problem solver, and must have a great sense of humor.

Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience working in a public library setting. Knowledge of Spanish

Duties And Responsibilities
Acquisitions and Collection Maintenance:
- Responsible for the acquisitions and purchasing of all materials for library collections.
- Verifies receipt of materials via invoices and sends completed invoices to Business Office.
- Coordinates with vendors to complete or correct orders. Communicates with vendors when changes orcorrections are needed.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating vendor accounts for library collections.
- Collaborates with Collection Development Team in coordinating purchases and vendor selection.
- Utilizes library’s ILS Acquisitions module to create purchase orders, creates on-order bibliographic and item records. Maintains supplier records and invoices in the ILS system.
- Provides staff training on using EDI enabled vendor portals.
- Prepares, compiles and distributes monthly reports and statistics essential for library collections.
- Works with the Department Managers to facilitate the EDI automation and establishment of new vendors in ILS system. Maintains processing profiles with vendors.
- Assists in collection maintenance activities as assigned.
- Handles special project requests for assigned collection(s).
- Performs copy cataloging for assigned collection(s).
- Provides backup for all functions in the department as needed.
- Responsible for continuous training as needed to keep current on changes and updates of all software and functions.
- Keeps informed of current acquisitions trends and new developments.
- Participates in activities that relate to acquisitions and collection maintenance by attending workshops, seminars, and meetings and brings this knowledge back to the library by sharing information with and training other staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Oversees intake, and monitors arrivals for timeliness, continuity, and physical appearance. Identifies missing, late or damaged issues. Coordinates the repair of damaged issues with the Processing Clerk Maintains the claiming process. Tracks claims and notify EBSCO of problems when necessary.
- Creates serial control records in automated system for new and existing records, as required.
- Ensures newly created records possess accurate information and syntax. Uses OCLC WorldCat for bibliographic information to copy catalog.
- Verifies the accuracy of the yearly renewal list, and modifies renewals as needed prior to ordering.
- Maintains periodical subscriptions via EBSCONET. This includes placing orders, requesting cancellations, and making claims.
- Organizes incoming periodicals for processing. Records intake of serials and adds to catalog following established procedures.
- Maintains a spreadsheet with complete information on all subscriptions.
- Other duties as assigned.
