Position Summary

Essential Functions

The Event Planning / Marketing Assistant has strong organizational, creative, and communication skills. They will coordinate fundraising events and campaigns, as well as develop and oversee the SYFC Annual Communications calendar for internal purposes. They will assist and coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Donor Care Specialist. Event planning responsibilities include: coordinating regional See the Story, Vision Dinners, Champions events, and other community fundraising and appreciation events.

Event Planning Coordination 40%:

  • Develop an event communications schedule of deadlines, dates, times, and locations/venues.
  • Assist in creative writing for marketing materials (save the dates, website, social media, and e-blasts), assisting the Marketing and Communication Specialist.
  • Assist in coordinating with venues and contracted vendors to ensure the successful implementation of events, assisting the Development and Regional Directors.
  • Assist with staging setup, including tables, decorations, gifts, and any other necessary materials for the event.
  • Coordinate post-event follow-up communications with attendees/invitees.

Direct Mail Marketing / Communications 40%:

  • Assist in executing direct mail and electronic communication mailings, including but not limited to: quarterly newsletters, fundraising campaign letters, and other miscellaneous partner communication postal mailings, assisting the Marketing and Communication and Donor Care Specialists.
  • Help maintain the uniform style and voice of communications and brand image in collaboration with the YFC Branding and communication standards.

Annual Marketing/Communications Calendar / Donor Data Updating 20%:

  • Establishing, consistently reviewing, and communicating the Annual Marketing/Communications Calendar of events with the expectation of connecting with the Executive Leadership team and Ministry staff.
  • Assist the Donor Care Specialist with updating Mailchimp and Salesforce CRM data, including contact information—relay partner information, CRM changes, or additions to the Donor Care Specialist. Ensure that Mailchimp and Salesforce email information are coordinated and updated monthly.
  • Monthly attend SYFC All-staff meetings (2nd Wednesdays) and regularly review YFC USA newsletter emails.

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.

YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

  • Canva - basic graphic design software (additionally, Photoshop or equivalent)

  • Fund Easy - event planning and communication software
  • YFC National Resources - Storefront, Knowledge Base, Marketing site, Verbal Identity standards, etc.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
