Job Overview

APL Site Development is seeking a highly skilled Superintendent with civil site construction experience to oversee and manage all phases of underground utility and site development projects. The Superintendent will lead project teams, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintain direct communication with clients, general contractors, and internal stakeholders. This is a leadership role requiring strong organizational skills, field expertise, and the ability to maintain high performance under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive at work on time (7:00 am) with all required PPE.
  • Oversee and manage all phases of assigned construction projects.
  • Monitor and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements daily.
  • Prepare and maintain work schedules and assignments for crews.
  • Collaborate with staff on preconstruction estimates, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate and schedule work activities for professional and labor crews.
  • Inspect work regularly for quality, timeliness, and compliance with specifications.
  • Complete daily reports, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and maintain project documentation.
  • Conduct progress meetings with general contractors and stakeholders.
  • Provide rapid site assessments to identify and address issues affecting productivity and profitability.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering plans, regulatory standards, and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge of sewer, pressure pipe, and storm installation methods.
  • Proven leadership experience managing dirt, pipe, base, and service crews.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and coordinate multiple teams.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
