What You Will Be Doing

  • Orchestrating the daily 2-Hour Learning block by helping students establish meaningful goals, maintain focus, and leverage technological tools for accelerated learning
  • Reinforcing literacy foundations by supporting reading routines and practicing skills introduced by our Reading Specialists
  • Cultivating emotional intelligence, resilience, and collaborative skills through consistent, warm guidance
  • Monitoring individual progress with precision, identifying challenges early, and collaboratively adjusting approaches with your team
  • Engineering a classroom atmosphere that balances structure with playfulness—creating an environment that feels like summer camp with academic rigor

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Standing at the front of the room delivering traditional lectures all day
  • Creating literacy curriculum or serving as the primary reading instructor
  • Drowning in paperwork, endless grading, or extensive lesson planning
  • Working in an environment that lacks technological integration or joyful learning
  • Addressing behavioral challenges without considering the whole child and their unique needs

Learning Coach Key Responsibilities

Your core mission: Equip our youngest learners with the essential habits, self-confidence, and emotional regulation skills they need to excel in Alpha's innovative, technology-enhanced learning environment. You'll create the conditions where accelerated growth becomes not just possible, but expected.

Basic Requirements

  • Availability for full-time, in-person work at one of our campus locations (Washington D.C., Raleigh, Charlotte, Orange County, or San Francisco)
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with children ages 4–8 in educational settings, afterschool programs, coaching environments, or similar contexts
  • Proven track record of inspiring and managing young learner groups with both clear structure and authentic enthusiasm
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and receptiveness to feedback
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Credentials or specialized training in early childhood education methodologies (such as CDA, Montessori, or Reggio Emilia approaches)
  • Background in supporting reading acquisition or collaboration with literacy experts
  • Experience with adaptive learning technologies or personalized education platforms

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
