Farwest Steel Corporation is seeking applicants for the position of Branch Manager Steel Division for the Vancouver branch.
The primary purpose of the position is to provide proven leadership, direction, and coordination for all assigned branch sales and operational functions. The branch manager creates commercial strategies and drives the operational process efficiencies that support the commercial direction. The branch manager has profit and loss responsibility for the facility and works directly with senior management to develop & execute business strategies, maximize profitability and create ownership by their team.
Major Duties
Perform routine office functions, understand & deliver written and oral instructions, and make accurate mathematical calculations.
Utilize professional etiquette in all situations, possibly with challenging customers.
Additional Notes
Previous management experience leading a successful team. Steel industry experiences are most desirable. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office suite; analytical ability to review and understand standard business metrics. Effective presentation skills for internal and external groups. Able to create and direct a high-performing team. Organized and attentive to goals and deadlines. Able to multi-task successfully in a rapidly growing and changing environment. May be required to perform other duties as assigned, with or without notice. Must follow standard operating processes and procedures (SOPs) for the position as defined by Farwest

Major Duties
- Responsible for establishing strategies for sales and operational parts of the business as well as strategy that integrates both elements.
- Coordinate and direct commercial and operational management to achieve maximum results of customer service, operational excellence and sales profitability.
- Develop, implement and sustain effective training programs as part of staff development and to ensure optimal organizational performance.
- Create and sustain a culture that embraces safety, collaboration & accountability.
- Create performance goals and monitor achievement toward those goals. Ensure that all departments have relevant data to forecast their performance.
- Create forecasts, budgets, staffing plans & equipment recommendations to support market demands.
- Direct and sustain a culture of continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing principles
- Ensure compliance with all employment, safety and environmental regulatory agencies/regulations.
- Ensure that staff are effectively developed, routinely evaluated and provided with ongoing performance feedback.
- Travel may be required, as needed, to customer and vendor facilities. Travel is also required to company meetings in various locations.
- Participate in customer and vendor events.
