The HVAC Applications Manager is responsible for leading a team of HVAC Applications Specialists, ensuring the delivery of accurate technical support, system design recommendations, and competitive project quotes. This role requires a strong leader with deep HVAC technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a strategic mindset to drive team performance, customer satisfaction, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of HVAC Applications Specialists.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing professional development.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the preparation of HVAC system quotes, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Monitor project pipelines, quote close ratios, and team workload distribution.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.

Sales & Business Development Support

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to align technical support with sales strategies.
  • Provide guidance on pricing strategies and project management best practices.
  • Support key customer relationships and assist in resolving escalated issues.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to inform product positioning.

Technical Expertise & Innovation

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in HVAC systems, including unitary, mini-split, hydronic, and commercial systems.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, codes, and application practices.
  • Lead internal training sessions and support external product demonstrations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in HVAC applications, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in project bidding, plan and spec work, and technical sales support.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in HVAC design principles, load calculations, and system applications.
  • Analytical mindset with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/project tracking tools.
