Belle Haven Country Club seeks full-time salaried/commission assistant to manage large fitness facility.

Assistant Fitness Manager

Reports to: Director of Wellness and Childcare Activities

Supervises: Fitness Center Floor, Youth and Adult Clinics, Assists in Wellness Programs

Classification: Full-time

Education And/or Experience

  • Personal Trainer Certification (or Comparable Fitness Certification) from a nationally accredited organization (i.e., NSCA, ACSM, NASM, IRSSA)
  • Two years Personal Training/Group Exercise experience – Pilates and Aqua Fitness background is a plus
  • Prefer two years of managing experience

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations Include, but not limited to:

  • Ability to write exercise prescriptions/personal train/teach Group-X
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of Club Fitness services and daily club operations, including Group-X schedule and operating hours.
  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on member service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Self-driven, autonomous individual.
  • Manage stress and time.
  • Train and evaluate assigned shift associates.
  • Presence on the fitness floor during shifts.
  • Weekend and holiday availability.
  • Ability to perform duties in emergency situation.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Assistant Fitness Manager works as a prominent leader during shifts, apparent to both members and associates. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable about health and wellness.

The Assistant Fitness Manager is able to assist in the Fitness/Wellness programing, as well has having the ability/availability to build personal training cliental, teach/substitute Group-X classes, and maintain a positive and engaging environment. The Assistant Manager reports to the Director of Wellness and actively seeks to improve themselves and their capabilities. The Assistant Fitness Manager understands BHCC Culture and that all employees’ basic job description is simple—member service. This position is very hands on and visible during posted Fitness Center Hours.

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Continuously assists in creating fitness and wellness programming to include: personal training, fitness promotions, special events, group-x offerings/programs
  • Developing and implementing wellness programing
  • Maintains a clean and welcoming environment
  • Knowledgeable about all SOP’s related to wellness services.
  • Make suggestions to improve procedures or layouts to better facilitate service.
  • Adheres company policy and standards
  • Ensures all legal requirements are consistently followed for health safety

Licenses And Special Requirements

  • CPR/AED Certified
  • Personal Training Certifications
  • Act as liaison in the absence of Fitness Director
  • Other duties may be assigned

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
