Works with all agency departments to promote and provide volunteer services. Oversees agency volunteers in a variety of settings and activities. Responsible for the recruitment, retention, education, and management of assigned volunteers. Facilitates patient assignments according to volunteer skills, interests, and availability, in support of the organization’s mission. Duties can include after-hours and weekends, as needed.
Serves as an ambassador in the community for The Elizabeth Hospice. Engages community members in outreach programs to increase their knowledge and awareness of the organization. Manages social media for volunteer and community outreach activities. Recruits and trains volunteers to assist in carrying out community outreach activities. Responsible for developing and nurturing long-term community relationships. Assists with planning and attending outreach events as directed.

Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 800 a.m.-500 p.m.
Salary $24 - $29 hourly. Subject to experience and qualifications.

Travel Moderate; travel in relation to special events, attendance at various seminars and workshops may be required from time to time.

- Conducts post-training interviews of prospective volunteers and finalizes activation as volunteers.
- Facilitates patient care assignments of volunteers.
- Assigns non-patient care volunteers according to needs of departments agency wide.
- Initiates volunteer personnel files and maintains all components of the Volunteer Record.
- Tracks volunteer assignments and documentation in agency EMR and Volunteer database to ensure accurate statistical data for reporting.
- Facilitates communication between volunteers, community, and staff, including assignments as needed.
- Provides ongoing education to volunteers regarding agency policies and procedures, along with topics related to volunteer duties.
- Presents at, and assists with volunteer training, in-service presentations, support activities, home study course trainings, and special events both on and off site as directed.
- Participates in IDTs and facilitates volunteer attendance at IDT when appropriate.
- Enters volunteer information into volunteer management database.
- Supports and facilitates the development of new volunteer opportunities across the agency in collaboration with the Volunteer leadership and other departments’ staff.
- Participates in after-hours or weekend events on behalf of the organization, as needed.
- Generates ideas to increase community awareness in the community.
- Manages social media for volunteer and community outreach activities
- Responsible for establishing and developing long term community relationships.
- Coordinates and delivers educational activities to members of the community as assigned.
- Must have a high school diploma and excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to walk long distances carrying event supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to speak publicly as directed.
- Must be able to work well with and without direct supervision.
- Must be proficient and engaged with social media.
- Professional, respectful, and accurate in written and oral communications.
- Current driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- Requires knowledge in word processing and software applications, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
