Description

The Senior VP of Member and Business Experience is chiefly responsible for driving value for the organization’s members. The SVP must have a true passion for the region and a deep dedication to seeing the community grow and thrive through the work of the organization.

With responsibilities similar to a chief revenue officer or chief membership office in other organizations, the SVP owns and is accountable to the entire sales and service system for current and future members. The SVP is also one of the leading liaisons in driving member engagement with the organization’s programs, services, and initiatives.

Strategy

  • As a member of the executive corporate team the SVP operates with an elevated level of independence, initiative, and professional expertise and is a key driver of the organization’s vision, strategy, mission, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the various roles associated with the Member and Business Experience teams, minimizing silos of systems and data.
  • Interfaces between the organization’s staff and Executive Leadership Team on all strategic planning, programs, budget, and internal staffing issues.
  • Ensure resource allocation and long-range planning and sustainability.
  • The SVP actively manages, recruits, and develops staff for the Member and Business Experience team. The SVP will manage the use of external vendors and contractors when needed.

Operations

  • Responsible for the effective operations of the Member and Business Experience team.
  • Provide oversight of all program areas and cost centers associated with the team, including development of budgets, P/L review, grant administration and reporting.

Membership

  • Provide oversite to the membership team to facilitate a positive member experience program and efforts throughout CEO. The team will focus on member-centricity ideas. Member experience programs include member research and analytics, member relationship.
  • Develop and deploy CEO’s member experience strategy, collect, and analyze data on member experiences for retention and growth.
  • Leads significant portion of the organization’s non-dues revenue development through programs including but not limited to events, membership directory and sponsorship.
  • Ensure effective delivery of business development services to member and non-member businesses.
  • Oversees the Network Associate engagements and activates this group of small businesses around advocacy, program participation, and membership prospecting
  • Ensure the development and implementation of strategies to meet membership growth, engagement, and retention goals.
  • Leads the planning and execution of the reimagined member experience process.
  • Develops ways to engage members in a meaningful way in our work.
  • Oversees the execution of affinity groups designed to engage subsets of membership in industry and/or topical categories to drive engagement and tangible outcomes.

Revenue

  • Awareness of fee for service opportunities which can inform the development and optimization of member programming.
  • Develop sales retention and revenue goals
  • Works with other SVPs to ensure handoff and timely engagement on member requests, needs, services and has ownership of the case management process that goes along with the transition.
  • Coordinates with the SVPs of SPP and Inclusion Growth to maintain a constant feedback loop of insight on business needs as they relate to program design, program participation, and overall strategy.

  • Staffs organization’s Membership Committee. Partners to staff Nominating Committee.
  • Attends and participates in senior staff, executive corporate team and executive leadership meetings.
  • Attends and participates in senior staff, management team, and corporate leadership team meetings.
  • Acts as a brand ambassador.
  • Clearly, consistently and in alignment with the corporate leadership team, communicates with staff about policies and practices, updates, major projects and developments.
  • Leads weekly team meetings.
  • Knowledge of the regional business community.
  • Practices community engagement through partnerships, participation, and alignment with CenterState events, events of core partners and other activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages and supervises team, including writing annual performance evaluations and ensuring staff training and professional development.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, business, policy, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience. Knowledge of the regional business community.
  • This SVP should have a proven ability to manage diverse efforts, and the ability to respond to ambiguity and change with creativity.
  • The SVP should have a demonstrated ability to create a shared vision, inspire collaboration, and drive sustainable change.
  • Ability to work with discretion.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse community. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to identify and secure alternative funding/revenue sources. A high standard of professional and ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability is required.

Physical And Mental Requirements

  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work, verbal communication, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push and/or pull up to 20-pound loads at a time relative to event-based equipment.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Work Environment

General office equipment is used. There is no exposure to known adverse environmental conditions. Work is performed in a typical office work environment.
