Description

Konami Gaming is looking for a Mathematician II – Class II to join our team!

Mathematician II for Class II is responsible for creating mathematical models for multiple games on a project basis and researching and analyzing games from a statistical perspective. This position is responsible for understanding fundamental game design and must be able to successfully perform all requirements for a Mathematician position.

What you'll be doing:

  • Creates math models and resource materials for a complex game within a reasonable time frame, utilizing Microsoft Excel, Visual Studio (C#), and Windows based PCs.
  • Creates the Math Documentation and provide relevant math data for specific math models autonomously.
  • Creates a working version of the math model using Konami’s proprietary C# Math Tool for most types of games.
  • Creates Excel sheets (PARs) which incorporate theoretical calculations proving out math models for regulatory approval and customer facing information.
  • Implement game specific code to mirror an existing performing math model in a class II representation.
  • Develops and works on software tools to support math development.
  • Identifies and recommends procedures for process improvement including automation.
  • Proactively looks for problem points and can resolve with minimal guidance or advice.
  • Can explain math design parameters in a way that people with minimal to no math knowledge can easily understand them.
  • Is effective at communicating math design constraints based on suggested feedback for math design iteration and can provide alternative approaches to achieve the overall design goal.
  • Works with Software Engineer to ensure accuracy of software and math implementation.
  • Analyze and calculate statistics for existing or new games and report findings to support Director’s needs.
  • Understands Games R&D's fundamental math direction and can create a math model following the general direction as well as satisfy all given game specific directions with some guidance.
  • Little to no errors on mathematical documents reported from SQA or regulator. This includes grammar, formatting and mathematical.
  • Ability to perform requested tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Can effectively foresee possible deadline issues and communicate in a timely manner to allow for adjusting.
  • Reports to management any discrepancies or problems requiring resolution.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we'll want you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Statics or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of related experience in the gaming industry or professional programming experience.
  • Demonstrated clear understanding of statistics and probability.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently, both verbal and written with all levels of the business.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain Gaming licensure(s).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and governmental regulations.
  • Expertise in slot game mechanics.
  • Understanding C# is mandatory.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time / 40+ hours per week. Must be flexible to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be comfortable working in an area with limited working space for long hours with the ability to remain seated at computer terminal for extended periods of time. Extreme repetitive motion using keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Must be able to work at assigned location to enable direct communications and interactions with team members, management, and others as necessary, unless traveling for a business-related purpose.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a high-stress, fast-paced, and high-pressure environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, paying attention to detail, and meeting assigned deadlines. Demonstrates high integrity, trust, and strict confidentiality. Ability to maintain excellent communication and a positive, respectful, and professional attitude and relationship with clients, employees, peers, co-workers, all levels of management, and all outside organizations conducting business or otherwise interacting with the company. Ability to always act autonomously while adhering to overall department and company policies and procedures.
  • Position shall work primarily in a smoke free office environment. The noise level is low to moderate. Position shall maintain a cubicle or office in close proximity to other cubicles and offices.
