The Onboarding and Training Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, coordinating and overseeing comprehensive training programs for all new and existing employees. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, efficient, and skilled workforce. The specialist will facilitate a seamless onboarding experience and facilitate ongoing training initiatives to support operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement within the organization.

As our Onboarding & Training Specialist, you will design, develop, deliver and coordinate engaging training programs that equip our employees with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. You'll play a key role in creating a positive and productive work environment by ensuring smooth onboarding experiences and effective ongoing development opportunities. You will directly impact employee performance and contribute to the overall growth of the organization.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • You will develop, implement and coordinate comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires.
  • You will design, deliver and coordinate engaging training programs using various methods (e.g., instructor-led, online modules, virtual workshops).
  • You will create and update training curricula, ensuring alignment with business needs and learning objectives.
  • You will manage and maintain our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its effectiveness and accessibility.
  • You will conduct training needs analyses to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training solutions.
  • You will apply adult learning principles to maximize the effectiveness of training programs.
  • You will utilize instructional design principles to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • You will provide ongoing performance support to employees, helping them apply their training in their daily work.
  • You will track and measure the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven improvements.
  • You will collaborate with other departments to identify training needs and integrate training into business processes.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in training, teaching, or leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • This position operates in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing plant setting. The role requires spending significant time on the production floor, which may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 30lbs occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety regulations (OSHA), and other regulatory requirements.
  • "Train the Trainer" certification or similar professional training credentials.
  • Experience in developing e-learning content.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
