About the position: As the Data Engineer will play a critical role in building and maintaining the technical foundation for our next-generation data platform. This position involves collaborating with our analytics team and backend developers to design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, data warehouse architecture, and integration processes that support analytics excellence. The engineer will work directly with structured and unstructured data sources to enable efficient reporting, analytics, and future machine learning capabilities, with special focus on our upcoming large external dataset integration project.
What you'll do:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
Experience: 2-5+ years of experience in data engineering with strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and analysis

This is an onsite position at our main office in Little Rock, Arkansas, applicants must live within 1 hour drive of the main office in Little Rock.

What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
- Develop and manage comprehensive ETL/ELT workflows across various data systems using Azure-based tools and services
- Architect and accelerate the development of our data warehouse, focusing on scalable and efficient designs
- Implement data quality controls, validation processes, and lineage tracking to ensure data integrity
- Design and optimize data models that enable efficient analytics and reporting capabilities
- Develop data hygiene processes and identity resolution services for our upcoming large external dataset integration
- Collaborate with analytics team to translate business requirements into technical data specifications
- Partner with backend developers to ensure proper data flow between applications and data warehouse
- Implement and maintain data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information
- Monitor data system performance and implement alerting mechanisms for critical data processing workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to data processing and integration
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for data models, integration processes, and data dictionaries
- Optimize data processing performance and scalability to handle growing volumes of data
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and data retention policies for critical data systems
- Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve data processing capabilities and efficiency
- Perform other data engineering and platform management duties as assigned
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
Experience: 2-5+ years of experience in data engineering with strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and analysis
Other Requirements:
- Extensive experience with Azure data services (Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory)
- Demonstrated success in data warehouse design, implementation, and optimization
- Experience with data orchestration and transformation tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, dbt, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques and dimensional design principles
- Experience with data quality management, master data concepts, and identity resolution
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative software development practices
- Experience with large-scale data integration projects preferred
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex data issues
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices preferred
- Experience in healthcare data domains is a plus
