Description
Essential Functions
Prepares batches for scanning by removing all staples and apply a stamp to each batch prior to scanning. Removes and sets aside any pages that do not require scanning, placing them at the back of the batch. Flags irregular documents, such as long, short, or double-sided EOBs.
Monitors batches when being scanned to ensure that two pages do not go through at the same time. Initials and dates each batch after scanning in the designated area on the batch stamp.
Once batch is scanned, locates batch on Application AppEhancer and indexes batch using the date of deposit and the batch number. After indexing, signs and dates batch cards, initials batch log sheet indicating batch has been indexed, and files indexed batches into pouches in deposit date order, verifying that all are accounted for.
Reviews and research returned mail and accounts flagged with bad addresses in the Epic system. Updates patient demographic information in Epic based on verified sources (e.g., insurance sites, returned mail content, Cerner). Resolves and clears bad address indicators in Epic after proper verification to ensure future correspondence is delivered correctly. Documents all actions taken in the appropriate account notes per clinic policy.
Adheres to guidelines set by the Clinic’s Compliance Program, following all Health Care Regulatory Laws on medical coding, billing and reporting of compliance issues. Maintains confidentiality of Clinic documents and patient information. Refrains from discussing or releasing confidential information except with individuals legally entitled to such information and as specifically authorized for release.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed indoors in a heated, air conditioned, well lighted, and clean office setting.
Requires frequent lifting up to 20 pounds.
Requires ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Requires normal range of vision.
Requires prolonged standing or sitting
Travel
No travel is expected for this position other than occasional travel to corporate sites regarding employee relations issues.
Requirements: Required Education and Experience
Education: High School graduate or equivalent required.Must possess the ability to work within general and plan guidelines. Ability to prioritize and be able to produce an acceptable volume of work. Ability to assess a situation and decide the best course of action. Be able to communicate ideas in a clear and concise manner. Use interpersonal skills effectively to communicate with internal co-workersAdditional Eligibility Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Windows based computer applications. Be able to operate the following equipment: computer, copier, fax, and 10-key calculator. Professional appearance and manner.
