Your Impact
As a Senior Accountant at Kent Outdoors you will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations and support financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.

Your Impact
As a Senior Accountant at Kent Outdoors you will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations and support financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and participate in core accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger maintenance ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and standards.
- Prepare and record journal entries such as accruals, depreciation, amortization, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
- Manage commission and royalty programs, ensuring accurate calculation, documentation, and reporting.
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts to ensure general ledger accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain detailed accounting records, including fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Support inventory and cost accounting functions, including tracking work-in-progress (WIP) and perform inventory reconciliation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, bank covenant compliance reports, and profitability analyses (sales, gross margin, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales, income, franchise, and property taxes, as well as 1099s and W-2s.
- Contribute to the monthly and year-end close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist with the implementation of audit findings.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to accounting policies.
- Help build financial dashboards and reporting tools using BI software to enhance decision-making.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, support training and development efforts across all accounting functions.
- Maintain the highest level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Perform additional ad-hoc projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 1 - 5 years of Public Accounting or Private Industry accounting experience
- Willingness to accept additional responsibility and the ability to work as a team player to collaborate across departmental functions
- Highest level of ethical standards, integrity, professionalism and judgment. Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting, and the ability to research and interpret evolving accounting standards.
- Detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information and interact effectively with Senior Management.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities at the time.
- High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills with a drive for accuracy.
- Self-motivated and deadline driven with the ability to work longer hours as required during certain business cycles
- Advanced Excel, Word, and Access skills
- CPA or CPA candidate having completed minimum required credit hours- Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV/BC, PowerBI, PowerPivot, SQLPreferred
