Position Overview
Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Assistant Track & Field Coach. This position will report to the Head Track & Field Coach. The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for supporting the comprehensive development of student-athletes through effective coaching, mentorship, and leadership. This position will contribute to the overall success of a competitive athletics program by providing expert guidance in training, recruitment, and student-athlete development. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.

Essential Duties
- Deliver high-quality skill instruction and conditioning programs aligned with the standards of a successful NCAA Division III track & field program.
- Identify, recruit, and retain student-athletes who demonstrate both athletic talent and academic excellence to thrive at SU.
- Actively participate in fundraising initiatives that support the goals and needs of the track & field program.
- Ensure adherence to all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies. Serve as a positive role model and mentor, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and high ethical standards. Support classroom excellent by utilizing all available university resources in support of students.
- Serve as an Administrator in Charge (AIC) for designated athletic events throughout the year.
- Contribute to campus life by participating in university committees as assigned.
- Teach courses in ESS FRA, if appropriately qualified.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Proven experience in coaching and ability to demonstrate proper techniques unique to the sport
- CPR and First Aid or a willingness to become certified within three months of hire
- Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
- Collegiate or professional playing experience in the sport
- Experience in recruiting college-level varsity athletes
