This position is in-person, and its primary function is to design and deliver high-quality professional development and contribute to the development and refinement of Ditto Literacy curriculum and resources.

To help us continue this work, we are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to join our highly talented team as a Training and Curriculum Specialist (TCS). This position is in-person and the major function of an ALLMemphis TCS is to work closely with the Director of Programs (DOP) to ensure that our curriculum and training materials help us expand our reach and meet the needs of schools, teachers, and students.


Core Responsibilities of a Training and Curriculum Specialist:

  1. Designing and delivering professional development: The TCS is responsible for creating and facilitating high-impact training sessions that engage diverse adult learners and directly connect literacy research to classroom practice.
  2. Presenting with clarity and energy: The TCS must be an excellent presenter who can deliver content in an interactive, accessible, and compelling way across both in-person and virtual formats.
  3. Embedding theory into practice: The TCS ensures that all training integrates structured literacy theory with practical application, using modeling, guided practice, and reflection to support teacher growth.
  4. Supporting curriculum development: The TCS collaborates with leadership and curriculum writers to refine Ditto Literacy resources, expand offerings, and ensure materials align with state standards, evidence-based practices, and the needs of diverse learners.
  5. Contributing to organizational goals: The TCS works as part of the ALLMemphis team to advance literacy equity by supporting new initiatives, collaborating with colleagues, and representing the organization at community and professional events.  


In addition to these core responsibilities, the Training and Curriculum Specialist may also be responsible for tasks such as:  

  • Developing facilitator guides, participant materials, and slide decks for training sessions.
  • Supporting training participants before, during, and after sessions to ensure transfer of learning into practice.
  • Incorporating technology tools and digital platforms into training and curriculum to enhance teacher usability. • Gathering, analyzing, and applying participant feedback and student outcome data to continuously refine professional development offerings.
  • Creating supplementary instructional resources to strengthen daily classroom instruction.
  • Modeling lessons and co-teaching with educators to demonstrate effective structured literacy practices.
  • Partnering with Literacy Coaches and schools to strengthen foundational literacy instruction.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of literacy research, adult learning practices, and state instructional requirements.
  • Participating in networking, community events, and external trainings to represent ALLMemphis and bring back relevant insights.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure consistency and alignment across program and organizational strategies.
  • Contributing to internal knowledge-sharing by documenting processes, resources, and best practices for the team.
  • Supporting the Director of Programs and CEO in launching new initiatives that expand the reach and impact of ALLMemphis.  


Required Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in education or related field • Active Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher Knowledge Certificate (C-SLCT) from the Center of Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) Certification (or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of hire)
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively developing and delivering in-person and virtual trainings to diverse groups of varying sizes and/or coaching educators
  • Strong knowledge of structured literacy, literacy instruction, and curriculum design. • Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and maintain accountability for self and others
  • Desire to work with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
  • Commitment to ALLMemphis’ mission and values, as well as a passion for educational equity
  • Knowledge of staff development as it applies to both teaching and learning, and leading professional learning communities.
  • Understanding of how to evaluate, improve and report on the effectiveness of professional development
  • Training in Orton-Gillingham or other multisensory language instruction methods.
  • Experience with various curriculums, Response to Intervention (RTI) or tutoring, or peer coaching models.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Dedication to continuous professional growth and improvement.
