What We Do

Monterey teams with general practice, specialists, and allied health practitioners nationwide to provide local coverage for examinees. We deliver a wide range of medical examination-only services to public sectors and the individuals they serve. Our clients include the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense, and more. Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.

About The Role

Monterey Clinic is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in providing high-quality disability and occupational health evaluations. In this role, you will work closely with Nurse Practitioners and other providers to assist with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams for Veterans, pre-employment physicals, Department of Transportation (DOT) exams, and other occupational health assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, verify information, and prepare exam rooms.
  • Assist providers during medical disability exams, occupational physicals, and DOT exams.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests (e.g., vision, hearing, EKG, spirometry).
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for procedures; ensure exam rooms are properly stocked.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulations.
  • Educate patients on exam processes and ensure their comfort throughout the visit.
  • Support clinical provider (NP/PA) with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience in occupational health, urgent care, or primary care preferred but not required.
  • Ability to draw blood and urine samples for drug testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with providers and administrative staff.

Schedule

  • Full-Time, Monday to Friday.
  • No weekends or evenings.
