Summary

The Loan Operations Specialist I is responsible for accurately and efficiently boarding new loans to the bank’s core system. This role performs loan account maintenance, processes loan advances and payments, manages participation remittances and settlements, and handles non-accrual and charge-off transactions. Ensures daily account reconciliation and resolves unposted loan transactions in a timely manner.

Specific Job Duties

  • Board all loan types to the bank’s core system, as well as process modifications and renewals to existing loans.
  • Review loan documentation post-closing to verify all required documents have been received and signed.
  • Process advances, loan payments, and loan maintenance by either preparing necessary paper transactions, or direct input to the bank’s core system.
  • Handle all rate swap correspondence with customers and originator, as well as wires for rate swap payments.
  • Process participation transactions and correspond with participant banks as needed.
  • Complete credit confirmation inquiries.
  • Handle recordation of mortgages and UCC filings for new collateral to ensure proper lien perfection of bank’s collateral.
  • Responsible for initial input of loan file ticklers and exceptions.
  • Balance various general ledger accounts.
  • Mail daily loan notices and statements to clients.
  • Responsible for gathering internet payment information from Dimension and Check Free and posting to loans.
  • Process daily reports produced by the bank’s core system.
  • Manage processing of daily unposted items.
  • Process loan account risk rating updates, accrual adjustments, and charge off entries.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a Business or Finance related field preferred.
  • One (1) – Two (2) years of loan operations experience required.
  • Experience with FIS IBS Loan processing preferred.
  • Strong understanding of loan application policies and procedures, as well as documentation required by federal and state regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of related departments and their connection to loan operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong computer, keyboard, and software application (Microsoft Word and Excel) skills.
