Position Purpose: The IT Desktop Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support for all staff across the organization, including campus-based personnel. This role provides hands-on support for IT hardware and software, including computers, phones, printers, modems, and other devices. The IT Desk Technician receives and manages user tickets through electronic systems, documents all actions taken, and communicates effectively with the user community throughout the ticket life cycle. With minimal supervision, this position troubleshoots and resolves intermediate to complex hardware and software issues, installs and configures standard applications, and ensures timely response in alignment with service-level goals. By ensuring efficient operations, system reliability, and excellent customer service, this role supports both the technical infrastructure and end-user satisfaction across the organization.

Core Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and IOT devices.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and other hardware and software.
  • Providing support for various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Managing and maintaining computer networks, including LAN and WAN connectivity.
  • Conducting system upgrades and performing routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, virus scans, and data backups.
  • Documenting technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and other information to aid in the support of computer systems.
  • Maintaining an inventory of hardware and software assets, and ordering new equipment as needed.
  • Responding to support requests and inquiries from end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Providing remote support to end-users who are working from home or traveling.
  • Providing technical support for a variety of software applications, including productivity software, email clients, and specialized business applications.
  • Configuring and maintaining mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, for use by end-users.
  • Training end-users on how to use computer systems and software applications.
  • Conducting regular user training sessions to ensure that end-users are proficient in the use of computer systems and software applications.
  • Maintaining accurate records of support activities, including user requests, resolutions, and follow-up communications.
  • Coordinating with MSSP to identify potential security risks or system vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborating with other IT staff to resolve complex technical issues and support ongoing projects.
  • Collaborating with other IT staff to develop and implement technology policies and procedures that ensure the security and reliability of computer systems.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the security of computer systems, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Participating in the testing and deployment of new hardware and software systems.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in computer technology, and identifying opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of computer systems within the organization.

Education, Qualifications, And Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of IT support experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience using an electronic health record system.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience (subject to verification) sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above will be considered.
  • 5+ years of related IT experience (combination of higher education degree or certification and experience eligible).
  • Expert level knowledge on the use, troubleshooting, and installing of all computer systems and software applications.
  • Must excel in multitasking within a high-paced environment.
  • Acute attention to detail, confident and professional communication to all including Senior C-Suite staff.
  • Bilingual: Spanish, Vietnamese, etc. preferred.
  • Exceptional Customer Service experience.
  • Willing to submit to drug testing if requested.
