Job Summary

Support data integration projects within health Informatics and Analytics initiatives and assist in providing data services to teams aiming to improve health outcomes through data-driven insights and collaborative innovation.

Essential Functions

  • Serve on teams building and maintaining basic extraction/transformation/loading (ETL) pipelines for healthcare data.
  • Develop and test code and/or scripts to integrate data from multiple health, public health, and other information systems, with departmental support and oversight as needed for success and skill development.
  • Perform basic data validation and quality checks, document corrective action needs, and support solution development.
  • Document code, workflows, and project progress for informatics and analytics teams.
  • Monitor data systems performance, scalability, compliance, and security.
  • Collaborate with Informatics and IT teams on data systems design and improvement projects.
  • Support development of decision support products, such as reports, dashboards, and tools serving all organizational levels.
  • Contribute to organizational data governance/management infrastructure assessment, development, and maturity level improvement.

Requirements

  • Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
  • Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations as applies to position.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
  • Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Education/Relevant Experience: An associate’s degree or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in informatics, computer science, data science, or a related field, with experience through coursework, volunteer service, internships/assistantships, or work history related to data extraction, cleaning, and/or transformation.

Basic proficiency in SQL and one or more analytic/general-purpose language(s) (esp, Python, R, Julia, Rust, or Zig/C).

Familiarity with relational database concepts and common data formats (e.g., CSV, JSON, XML).

Awareness of cybersecurity fundamentals and health information regulatory requirements.

Preferred Experience Requirements

Understanding of common healthcare data standards and coding systems.

Experience working with healthcare or public health data.

Basic proficiency in computer science data structures and algorithms.

Exposure to time-series, graph, knowledge graph, and/or multimodal data.

Familiarity with qualitative data analysis and emerging AI/ML techniques.
