Description

Youth Collaboratory is inviting applications for the position of Human Resources Manager, reporting to the Deputy Director of Administration and working in concert with the organization-wide planning process. The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing human resource activities, policies, and programs that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards. This role will serve as a key partner across departments but will not manage staff directly. The HR Manager is a full-time exempt remote position. The starting salary range for this role is $77k-81k plus benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Building and Managing Effective Systems, Policies, and Practice

The HR Manager will evaluate the HR function for continuous improvement and identify and implement effective and efficient solutions. They will create and update organizational policies that reflect organizational values while complying with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. They will assist the Deputy Director of Administration in creating the annual budget, budget revisions, and long-term financial plans related to human resources and talent acquisition.

Employee Relations and HR Partnership

The HR Manager will serve as a strategic partner to the Deputy Director of Administration and the leadership team, proactively identifying and advancing areas of development in people, talent, structures, processes, and organizational culture. They will build relationships with departments and leaders across the organization to increase communication and transparency and support HR needs. They will serve as a tactful HR leader to discuss and problem-solve confidential and personal experiences within the organization.

Managing Total Employee Lifecycle

The HR Manager will oversee the full employee lifecycle programs to ensure staff are supported, engaged, and motivated to do their best work – from recruitment to onboarding, talent management, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, to transition management and offboarding. They will serve as the first point of contact for all employee questions regarding payroll, benefit plans/enrollment/life changes, employment verifications, and personnel policies, including retirement benefits. In many cases, they will partner with external consultants to evaluate, develop, and implement HR programs across the organization.

Personal Profile

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Youth Collaboratory.
  • Five to seven years of experience in human resources within a non-profit setting, with the ability to draw on experience and knowledge across many facets of the function, including employee recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and personnel administration is considered highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and continuously evaluating human resources policies and systems that support the organization's mission and values and adhere to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to be effective and comfortable in roles that require both strategic thinking and project management.
  • Demonstrates a high level of customer service, ability to work well in fast-paced environments, and prioritizing workload in response to dynamic contexts.
  • Responsive, solutions-focused, and people-oriented.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's payroll, benefits, and talent management systems.

Ideal Experience

  • Minimum of five years of human resource management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. A master’s degree in human resources, organizational development, public administration, or another relevant field is a plus.
  • Proven success in building relationships and excellent customer-focused competencies.
  • Proven project management skills that include:
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Identifying and framing project needs effectively and efficiently
  • Assuring deliverables are met according to the timeline, creatively adjusting as needed
  • Providing conflict resolution when needed
  • Ability to work effectively and confidentially with sensitive information.
