Description

Job Summary:

  • Execute development activities per Astemo guidelines.
  • Develop product feasibility studies to ensure manufacturing processes have merit.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment is of high economic value. Thoroughly evaluate all processes for reduction of unnecessary process time, energy consumption and manpower requirements.
  • Work with EHS to ensure that all process and equipment designs are safe to OSHA and internal standards, as well as long term and ergonomic safety aspects.
  • Work with the process development team to ensure process and equipment design is Process Capability Index (Cpk) capable and contain 100% measurement where less than 1.33 Process Capability Index (Cpk) is predicted.
  • Work with the Development Team to create a solid project plan that is low in risk of achieving profit goals and gains the approval of the appropriate personnel.
  • Support implementation of multiple model projects through mass production start-up.
  • Analyze/review/select new suppliers and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Education

4-year college degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, other technical field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in high-volume, precision assembly processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as project leader of major capital equipment procurement or process development.
  • Intermediate experience required in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Intermediate experience with ACAD and CATIA preferred.

  • Currently no supervisory responsibilities but must provide guidance to cross functional areas.

  • On-site work will be within factory office/plant floor setting, where noise can be present.

Travel

  • 20% international and domestic travel.
