Job Description
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. The Special Technologies Laboratory (STL) is searching for a Principal Intelligence Analyst to join the Research and Development team at its Santa Barbara, CA facility.
Key Responsibilities
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $117,270.40 - $178,838.40.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.

The Special Technologies Laboratory (STL) is searching for a Principal Intelligence Analyst to join the Research and Development team at its Santa Barbara, CA facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and provide multi-source exploitation and analysts of non-traditional EW/CYBER applications and operational tactics and procedures.
- Direct and prepare assessments of current events based on the sophisticated collection, research and analysis of classified and open-source information.
- Conduct research using Intel Community (IC) publications, power industry sources, and using past experiment results.
- Develop and write Key Intelligence Questions (KIQs); uses KIQs to create Technical Research Questions (TRQs).
- Develop and maintain analytical procedures to meet changing requirements and ensure maximum operations.
- Collect data using a combination of standard intelligence methods and business processes.
- Evaluate new power industry technologies for risks.
- Provide general oversight of Intelligence Analyst projects and less experienced Intelligence Analyst work.
- Participate in business development as well as identifying new sources of funding, and new strategic research areas for the lab.
- Formulate technical approaches for analysis of data for others involving broad technical subjects related to technical, analytic, and operational information.
- Plan, schedule and direct projects, guided by established objectives, budgets and schedules.
- Contribute to an overall productive and respectful work environment by providing excellent customer service and working in a positive, collegial manner at all times.
- Maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with Intelligence Analyst staff, other divisions, and other customers.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, or equivalent training and experience, and at least 9 years' relevant experience.
- Knowledge of EW/CYBER vulnerability systems is desired.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding how principles and methods are selected and applied to work is required.
- Working knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) systems used in the Power Sector is desired.
- Demonstrated experience to write technical and intelligence reports is required.
- Ability to articulate highly technical processes and information to non-technical audience is required.
- Ability to travel domestically for training and team meetings across the DOE enterprise is required.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is required.
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation and obtain a “Q” Clearance.
- The primary work location will be at the Special Technologies Laboratory (STL) located in Santa Barbara, CA.
- Flexible work schedule can be negotiated with the manager; employees can work 5/8, 9/80 or 4/10 work-weeks.
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
